  2. Cover the brew, remove it from the heat and let it stand for 5 to 15 minutes.

  3. Consume 3-5 cups daily.

Ginseng Roots

Using asian ginseng as a remedy is more suitable for those who are past adolescence or who have already tried other herbal remedies without much success.

  1. Place 2-3 grams of dried asian ginseng roots into a cup of boiling water and let it stand for 10 mins.

  2. Drink daily for about 10 days.  Repeat every 2 months or so.

  External Applications

Basil

The formation of whiteheads and blackheads is due to bacteria in and around the hair follicles.  Basil can kill these bacteria when topically applied.  Applying basil direct to the affected areas will bring out the full benefits of basil.

  1. Buy ready-made basil available and apply on the acne area.

  2. Or make an infusion by placing 2 - 4 teaspoons of dried basil leaves in a cup of boiling water, set aside to let it stand for about 10 - 20 minutes.  Apply on the acne area when cool.

Burdock

Use a mortar and pestle to crush some fresh burdock leaves then soak them in a little olive oil in a sealed container.  Put the container in a warm place for 24 hours.  Filter out the leaves and apply the remaining oil to the affected skin area.  The ointment can be used for a few days.

For the case of follicular acne, use crushed burdock roots to make a paste.  Apply the paste on the affected skin area and leave it on for about 30 minutes.

Bedstraw

Bedstraw herb is a very effective treatment for blackheads and acne. To make a bedstraw ointment, mix some of the bedstraw's fresh juice with a little butter which has already been melted slightly at room temperature.  Apply the mixture onto the affected acne part.
