Herbal Remedies for Low Blood Pressure or Hypotension

Low blood pressure, also known as hypotension, is not necessarily is a serious medical problem unless it is accompanied by dizziness, chronic fatigue, ringing in the ears, chronically cold extremities or fainting especially when sitting or standing abruptly.

Milk thistle is a tonic that is effective for treatment of general fatigue, mental or physical exhaustion due to stress or overwork.  Milk thistle also has a regulating and tonic effect on the circulation and nervous systems.  It is highly recommended for cases of hypotension which is accompanied by dizziness and excessive perspiration especially when switching abruptly from a seated to a standing position.

  1. Place 3 oz of milk thistle seeds in one quart of water and boil for 15 minutes then let it infuse for about 10 minutes before drinking 3 cups daily before meals.

Sage

 

Sage is a stimulant and fortifier that is recommended for cases of chronic fatigue, nervous problems and low blood pressure or during periods of convalescence.

  1. Drink 2-3 cups of sage infusion per day.

Shepherd's purse

 

Shepherd's purse helps in regulating blood circulation and menstrual flow in women.

  1. Prepare a shepherd's purse infusion by using 1-2 oz of dried shepherd's purse per quart of boiling water then let it steep for 10 minutes.  Drink 2 cups per day until circulation returns to normal.
