Home Natural Remedies for Acne Removal

Acne occurs due to either genetic or diet reasons.  Those occurring from diet can be easily cured by simply eating healthier foods and drinks.  For those resulting from genetic reasons, there are many great home-made natural healing remedies that can aid in acne removal without any adverse side effects.  Not all acne treatment home remedies will have the same results on people but there is no harm trying out the various simple home natural remedies until you find the remedy that is most suitable for you.


  Internal Applications


Artichoke Remedy for Acne


The artichoke internal application remedy is specially recommended for acne resulting from liver or kidney problem.

  1. Prepare an infusion by using both the roots and leaves. Put 30 grams of artichoke leaves in 1 liter of boiling water.  Add some honey to make it less bitter.  Drink 3 cups a day.

  2. Or prepare a tincture by cutting and drying the artichoke leaves.  Then soak about 500 grams of the leaves in distilled spirits such as brandy or vodka for about 15 days.  Press the leaves to extract out as much liquid as possible then take one or two teaspoons before meals.

  External Applications


Aloe Vera Remedy for Acne


Cut a piece of aloe vera leaf from the plant and remove the outer thick skin to end up with only a thick piece of transparent gel. Then rinse the thick piece of gel under tap water to remove the yellow latex which can is not good for irritated skin and may also cause inflammation in some people.  Apply the piece of gel directly onto the affected skin area, avoiding the eye.


How It Works - Aloe vera contains the ideal polysaccharides necessary for the skin to repair. It also acts as both a moisturizer and an anti-inflammatory agent.  It will not cure acne but it can heal the damage caused by acne and can help to reduce redness and swelling.


Almond and Honey Remedy for Acne


Mix a small amount of ground almonds, honey and water to make a fine paste.  Gently massage it on the face then rinse off with cold water.


Baking Soda Remedy for Acne


Make a paste by mixing baking soda with water then gently massage it into the skin for about 5 seconds before rinsing it off.  Repeat daily as needed.


Celery Remedy for Acne

Crush some celery in a mortar and pestle and apply it like a mask on the affected skin area for about 1/2 hour.  Remove the mask by gently rubbing it with some unflavored yogurt.


Cinnamon Powder and Honey Remedy for Acne


Mix 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder with 3 tablespoons of honey into a paste.  Apply to the affected face area before going to bed.  Rinse off with warm water in the morning.


Coriander Juice and Turmeric Powder Remedy for Acne


Mix 1 teaspoon for coriander juice with a pinch of turmeric powder and apply the mixture to the cleaned face before going to bed.  Coriander Juice can also be substituted by Mint Juice.


Cucumber Remedy for Acne


Apply cucumber leaves or grated cucumber or blended cucumber paste on the affected face area for 15-20 minutes, then rinse if off.


Cumin Seeds and Vinegar for Acne


Make a paste from 1 teaspoon of ground black cumin seeds and vinegar and apply on affected face area.  Wash off after 1 hour.


Egg Whites Remedy for Acne


Clean face and apply egg white using a cotton swab on the affected face area.  This is another way to help on acne removal.


Fenugreek (Methi Leaves) Remedy for Acne


Make a paste from the leaves of fenugreek vegetable and apply over the face before going to bed.  In the morning, wash with hot water


Garlic Remedy for Acne

Take some raw garlic, peel off the skin and rub the garlic onto the acne affected areas several times a day. For a more effective treatment, besides external application, consume 3 pods of raw garlic once a day for a month which will purify the blood stream internally and helps keep acne away.


Lemon Juice and Rose Water Remedy for Acne


Combine equal parts of lemon juice and rose water, then apply to the affected areas directly.  The lemon juice may cause some initial sting though.  Let it stay for 15-30 minutes, then rinse off.  Repeat for about 2 weeks.


Precaution- After using lemon juice on face, do not expose to direct sunlight.  Do not continue treatment if it irritates skin.


How It Works - Lemon juice is a natural astringent.  Both lemon juice and rose petals have antibacterial properties.  Rose water is also a skin toner and helps to mitigate the acidic effects of straight lemon juice.


Lime Juice and Milk Remedy for Acne


Mix fresh lime juice and a glass of boiled milk to make a facewash.  Apply to affected face area.


Mint Herbal Remedy for Acne


Use a mortar and pestle to thoroughly crush a handful of mint leaves, preferably Peppermint.  However, if peppermint is not found, then just use whatever types is available. Rub both the leaves and juice on the affected skin areas and then leave for 5-10 minutes.  Rinse off with cold water.  Repeat as often as desired.  Precaution - Do not continue this treatment if there is skin irritation.

How It Works - Peppermint contains menthol which is a natural analgesic and anti-inflammatory.


Neem Leaves and Turmeric Remedy for Acne


Make a paste using ground tender neem leaves, turmeric powder and water then apply to affected area.  Leave it on for 20-30 minutes before washing off with lukewarm water.


Oatmeal Remedy for Acne


Cooked Plain Oatmeal

Cook one serving of plain oatmeal per suggested instructions.  Add 1/4 cup of honey to the cooked oatmeal and stir well.  Allow to cool until it is semi-warm and then apply to all areas of the face, avoiding the eye area.  Leave for about 20-30 minutes. 

Precaution - Do not leave on too long or it will be hard to remove.
How It Works - The oatmeal cleanses pores by absorbing the oil and exfoliating the skin while honey eases application and acts as a skin toner.

Micro waved Instant Oatmeal 

Cook instant oatmeal per the suggested instructions except that you  add 1/2 oz of more water which will help during the process.  For this method to work properly, make sure the oatmeal is micro waved.  After micro waved, allow it to simmer for a few minutes until it is semi-warm.  Smear the micro waved oatmeal in all areas including those not affected by acne, avoiding the eye area.  Scrub it in and let it stay for 20-30 minutes.  Then wash off with warm water.  Initially do this daily for the 1st week followed by alternate days for a month.


Onion Juice Remedy for Acne


Apply fresh onion juice on affected area after cleaning face thoroughly.  Leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing it off.  Use daily for as long as needed.

Orange Peel Remedy for Acne


Pound orange peel with water and apply the mixture on the acne blemishes


Papaya Remedy for Acne


Apply raw papaya including the skin and seeds on affected face area


Potato Remedy for Acne


Apply grated potatoes to affected face area.


Radish Seeds Remedy for Acne


Make a paste by mixing ground radish seeds with water then apply to affected area.


Salt and Vinegar Remedy for Acne


Make a paste of salt and vinegar, then apply to affected area.  Let it stay for 20-30 minutes then wash off with lukewarm water


Sandalwood power, Turmeric and Milk Remedy for Acne


Mix 1 teaspoon each of sandalwood powder and turmeric mixed with milk and make into a paste.  Apply to

 affected face area.


Sesame Seeds Remedy for Acne


Make a paste of ground sesame seeds with water and apply to affected face area


Strawberry Remedy for Acne


Crush strawberry and apply on affected area.  Leave it on for 15 minutes then wash off with warm water followed by cold water.

Precaution - Some people may be allergic to strawberries therefore try a patch test before starting the treatment.


Tomato Remedy for Acne


Apply ripe tomato pulp on affected area and let it stay for 1 hour before washing off with warm water


Tomato and Sorrel Remedy for Acne

Place a slice of tomato on the affected skin area for 1/2 hour.  Remove the tomato but do not wash your face.  Apply some fresh crushed sorrel leaves and leave it on for another 1/2 hour.  Then only rinse your face with fresh water.


Thyme Remedy for Acne


Add 3-4 tablespoons of dried thyme into 1 1/2 cups of boiling water.  Let it steep for 30 minutes.  Then strain the water out and keep in a bottle.  Keep in refrigerator and apply this on the face or use as an astringent during daily facial rinse.


Toothpaste Remedy for Acne


Apply toothpaste on affected face area just before going to bed.  Wash off harden toothpaste with warm water in the morning.  Repeat several times until acne is gone.
