Home Remedies for Hemorrhoids or Piles

What are hemorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids or piles are actually swollen, inflamed or burst blood vessels in the anus which can become extremely painful or unpleasant for some people.  Hemorrhoids commonly affect older people and pregnant ladies.  They are also more common in men rather than women.  Generally hemorrhoids may occur due to the following reasons:

  • Aging

  • Pregnancy

  • Chronic constipation

  • Chronic diarrhea

  • Sitting too long in the toilet

  • Rectal irritation from hard, dry stool

  • Anal intercourse

  • Genetics

  • Lack of exercises

  • Obesity

  • A weak liver

  • High blood pressure

Fortunately hemorrhoids can often be prevented and are easily treated.  It is advisable to adopt a hypotoxic diet.  If you discovered that your problem is constipation related, avoid taking drastic actions to remedy the situation as these could worsen the situation.  Instead, adopt a gradual approach to treat the underlying cause.  One aspect of such an approach is to go for some dietary changes.  Try to eat more green vegetables and avoid nitrogenous greasy foods, fermented drinks and sweets.

There are also some effective home remedies that can provide quick pain relief for your hemorrhoids and the best thing is that they come without any harmful side effects as they do not contain any chemicals or ingredients that can end up worsening the hemorrhoid condition as well as worsening any other health related conditions.

Some of these natural healing home remedies have been passed down from generation to generation and have been proven to be effective true home remedies for hemorrhoids.

Ice is highly recommended as the first home remedy to try as it can help in numbing the pain, constricting the blood vessels and provide instant pain relief.

  1. Make an icepack then apply it directly on the hemorrhoids or sit on the icepack.

  2. Or simply apply a partially melted ice piece directly onto the hemorrhoids.
