Home Natural Remedies for High Blood Pressure or Hypertension

High blood pressure is measured by taken into account two readings.  First is called the systolic tension which is referring to the blood pressure at the moment the heart contracts.  The second is called the diastolic tension which is referring to the blood pressure between two heart contractions.  In general, a normal reading is around 120/80 while any readings consistently above 140/90 is considered as having high blood pressure or hypertension.

Symptoms of high blood pressure

Symptoms indicating you have high blood pressure includes:

  • frequent dizziness or headaches

  • vision problems

  • ringing in the ears

  • insomnia

  • involuntary movements of the body immediately upon waking up.

However these symptoms are not really specific to hypertension as other ailments can result in the same symptoms too.  Hence the best way is to check your blood pressure regularly with or without any symptoms.

You can also prevent your high blood pressure using the natural holistic path either by using homeopathy, herbal remedies or the following home remedies.

Apples

Apples are effective in helping to fight hypertension especially when associated to a liver or kidney lesion, accompanied by reduction in urine flow.  Apples are rich in pectin which also makes it effective for helping to lower cholesterol levels.  This fruit is also ideal for diabetics as it contains little sugar.

  1. Prepare an infusion by powdering some dried organic apples peel, add 1 tablespoon to 1 cup of boiling water and let it stand for 5 minutes then drink 1 cup in the morning and 1 cup at night.

Garlic

Garlic is highly recommended for treatment of atherosclerosis which is the hardening of the arteries and all types of hypertension.  Scientific studies has confirmed the popular belief that garlic does actually reduce blood pressure.  Use garlic whenever possible such as adding lots of fresh garlic to salads or eating steamed garlic cloves as a vegetable side dish.  Other forms of taking garlic includes:

  1. Garlic drops - consuming 30 garlic drops daily up to 10 days per month is often sufficient to help lower blood pressure.

  2. Garlic capsules if you want to avoid the characteristic odor.

  3. Garlic infusions - Place 3 oz of garlic into 1/2 quart of 60-proof alcohol and soak for 10 days.  Stir regularly and when the 10 days is up, filter and press the garlics.

Wild garlic

Wild garlic is equally effective in helping to lower blood pressure.  In addition it helps in the prevention of the calcification of arteries, curing certain types of heart problems and has a depurative effect.

  1. When wild garlic is in season, add it to salads and cooked foods.

  2. Alternatively, prepare a wild garlic liquor by filling a container with fresh leaves or finely chopped garlic cloves then cover with 40-proof alcohol before letting it stand in direct sunlight or a warm place for about 15 days.  Then consume 10-15 drops diluted in a glass of water, 4 times daily.
