Home Natural Remedies for Gout
Gout is caused by a buildup and crystallization of uric acid in the blood. It caused inflammation in the joints usually affecting the toes especially the big toe. When it attacks, the pain can be excruciating.
Nothing much can be done when an attack occurs except stay in bed and take some pain killers. However, these natural home remedies for gout treatment can help prevent future gout attacks from happening.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Preferably buy the organic type of apple cider vinegar. Take 2 teaspoons of organic apple cider vinegar together with 2 teaspoons of honey 2 times a day. You should feel some pain relief within a few hours after taking this.
Bananas are rich in phosphorus minerals which can react chemically with the gouty deposits and eliminate them from the body. Eat 3-4 bananas a day.
Applying castor oil can bring pain relief. Put in 3-4 tablespoons of castor oil in a pan and then heat the oil until it simmers. Soak a piece of clean flannel cloth in the warm castor oil and place it over the affected areas. To keep the heat longer, further wrap it with plastic or towel and apply heating pads. Let is stay for 30-60 mins.
Epsom salt contains magnesium and can help to flush out toxins and heavy metals form the body. The Epsom salt remedy is specially effective if the gout affects the big toe. Place 2 cups of Epsom salt in a basin of warm water and soak the affected foot in it until the water becomes cool. It can bring almost immediate relief from gout pain.
Ground some ginger until you get about 1/3 cup of ground ginger. Pour them into a bath tub and then soak your affected foot in it for up to 30 mins. The ginger will cause sweat and helps to eliminate uric acid. To avoid skin irritation caused by the ginger, bathe thoroughly after the treatment.
Grind mustard to powder form and then mix 1 part of mustard powder with 1 part of whole wheat powder. Make a paste by adding some water into the powder mixture. Apply this paste to the affected area and leave it overnight.
This home remedy is discovered by Professor Lai who works in the China School of Pharmacy. It is crucial to select papaya that is still green as that is the stage where it contains the highest papaya enzyme and various health ingredients which would have been lost once the papaya is fully ripe.
Pepper and Vinegar
Put 1 teaspoon of pepper together with 1 cup each of vinegar and water into a pan. Bring to boil. Remove from heat, let it cool down and then apply this mixture onto the gout area. Leave for 2-3 hours
Strawberries are rich in vitamin C and contains minerals like potassium, manganese, calcium, iron and magnesium zinc. Fresh strawberries can help to neutralize uric acid and therefore useful as a gout remedy. Eat several fresh strawberries daily.
The simplest natural way to cure gout is just consuming plenty of water to keep hydrated as dehydration has been associated with gout attacks. Drink 8 glasses daily to flush out the uric acid from the body.
