Headache is a very common ailment that almost everyone will suffer at some time or other during their lifetime.  Common causes are due to stress, allergy, eye strain, hangover, high blood pressure, infection, tension, low blood sugar, nutritional deficiency and presence of toxins or poisons in the body.

 

There are several natural remedies that is available to treat headaches.

 

Aloe Vera

 

Aloe vera is a natural remedy that is effective for headaches that are associated with hyperacidity.  Consume 2 tablespoons of fresh aloe vera gel 3 times a day

 

Apple

 

Apple can help to cure headaches.  Peel the apple skin off and cut away the inner portion of the apple.  Dip the cut apple into salt water and eat on empty stomach every morning.  Continue this apple remedy for about 1 week.

 

Banana

 

Banana peel contains potassium and can help to relieve headaches.  Just place a banana peel across the forehead and across the back of the neck.

 

Betel leaves

 

Betel leaves contain cooling properties and therefore can bring relief from headache.  Put some betel leaves into a mortar and pound them using a pestle.  Then mix with a little water to make a betel leaves paste.  Apply this paste to the temple or the forehead.

 

Cinnamon

 

Cinnamon is a good pain relief from headache.  Put a few cinnamon sticks into a mortar and pound them into powder using a pestle.  Mix with a little water to form into a paste.  Apply the cinnamon paste onto the temple and forehead.

 

Ginger

 

Ginger is very effective for sinus headaches.  Put some pieces of fresh ginger or used some dried ginger powder into 1 cup of water.  Bring to boil.  Remove from heat and let it cool.  Drink the ginger tea to rid yourself of headache.  Alternatively, use ginger powder and mix with a little water to make ginger paste.  Apply the ginger paste on the temple or forehead for headache relief.

 

Honey

 

Honey is an effective treatment for chronic headache.  Put 1 teaspoon of honey into 1 glass of water.  Stir thoroughly and drink in the morning

 

Lemon

 

Lemon is useful for headaches that are heat-induced

  1. Make a lemon tea by squeezing the juice out of lemons until you get about 1/2 cup of lemon juice.  Add in 1 teaspoon of tea powder.  Bring to boil.  Add some sugar to sweeten it.  Drink the lemon tea
     

  2. Make a lemon paste by using the remaining lemon peels.  Place the lemon peels into a mortar and pound it into a paste with a pestle.  Apply the paste to the forehead.  It should bring about pain relief from the headache.

Mustard

 

Mustard seeds are another effective natural remedies migraine headaches or normal headaches.  Mix 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seed powder with 3 teaspoons of water.  Mix thoroughly and then put this mixture into the nostrils. 

 

Sandalwood

 

Sandalwood remedy is a simple yet effective home remedy for headache.  Take some freshly ground sandalwood and add a little water to make into a paste.  Apply the sandalwood paste onto the forehead.  Let it dry before using your hand to rub it off.  Then wash the remaining paste from your forehead.
