Juicing Recipes for Constipation
Apple, Prune and Black Pepper Smoothie
Prunes are well-known for ease of elimination while black pepper acts as a stimulant for prevention of constipation.
60 grams pitted prunes
1 cup water
1/2 cup apple juice
Pinch of black pepper
Place prunes and water into a blender and blend well. Pour prune mixture into a saucepan and bring to boil. Adjust heat to low, cover saucepan and cook for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool. Next pour prune mixture into the blender again together with the rest of the ingredients. Blend well, pour into a glass and drink.
Bitter Gourd, Celery, Tomato and Pea Shoots Juice
This vegetable juice helps to improve circulation of the blood, counteracts against toxicity and provides relief to constipation.
1 Japanese bitter gourd
1 celery stalk with leaves
70 grams pea shoots
1 tbsp wheat germ
200 ml plain yoghurt
Remove seeds and discard the white film between the seeds and flesh of the bitter gourd to reduce bitterness. Put bitter gourd, celery, tomato and pea shoots through a juicer. Pour mixture through a strainer, add wheat germ and yoghurt and mix well before drinking
Grapefruit and Honey Juice
Just purely the high fiber properties of grapefruit can help to ease movement of bowels for those suffering from constipation.
honey to taste
Halve the grapefruits and remove the seeds. Squeeze the juice out using a citrus press. Add honey and stir well before drinking.
Pineapple, Grapefruit and Honey Juice
The organic acids present in pineapple as well as high dietary fiber in grapefruit can effectively help in bowel movement and thus provide relief to constipation.
200 grams fresh pineapple
2 tbsps honey
60 ml cultured milk drink
Remove the seeds from the grapefruit then use a citrus press to extract the juice out. Remove both skin and core from pineapple before putting it through a juicer. Add both grapefruits and cultured milk drink into the juicer. Stir in honey before drinking
