Juicing Recipes for Diabetes

Alfalfa Sprout Juice

 

Alfalfa sprout is effective in helping to reduce the severity of any diabetes complications as it contains properties that are rich in vitamins B & C, minerals and enzymes. 

 

80 grams alfalfa sprouts

1 cup water

honey to taste

 

Wash alfalfa sprouts and strain dry.  Put both alfalfa sprouts and water through a juicer.  Add honey to minimize the bitterness of the taste.  Mix well before drinking.

 

It is recommended that those with diabetes should drink this juice at least twice a day, in the morning and in the evening

 

Carrot, Green Apple, Celery and Spinach Juice

 

Carrot being a good blood regulator is excellent for helping eye problems in diabetics.  Green apples are good in bringing down sugar level whilst spinach contains powerful synergistic healing properties.  Celery contains sodium and minerals and adds great taste to juices.

 

1 carrot

1 green apple

A bunch of spinach

2 celery stalk with leaves

 

Wash and peel carrot and green apple and remove the apple seeds.  Juice the carrot and green apple together with spinach and celery.

 

Carrot, Cucumber and Tomato Juice

 

Carrot are good at regulating blood sugar even though they are sweet.  However combining them with both cucumber and tomato actually can help to reduce sugar in the urine and therefore is good for diabetes. 

 

1 carrot

1 Japanese cucumber

2 ripe tomatoes

 

Wash and peel carrot and cucumber.  Juice all together in a domestic juicer and drink this health juice.

 

Cucumber, Green Apple, Celery, Capsium and Bitter Gourd Juice

 

1/2 cucumber

1/2 green apple

1/2 bitter gourd

1/2 capsium

2 celery stalks with leaves

 

Wash and peel the skins of cucumber and green apple.  Wash and cut into half the bitter gourd.  Remove the bitter gourd seeds.  Then juice together the cucumber, green apple, bitter gourd with capsium and celery.  For diabetes control, drink the juice 1/2 hour before dinner in order to maintain sugar levels below 5.5mmol in the morning.  Drink this daily for 3 weeks.

 

Guava and Bitter Gourd Juice

 

Guava contains vitamin C which are essential for diabetics in controlling diabetes symptoms.  Bitter gourds are effective in lowering sugar level in both the blood and urine. It also contains an insulin-like compound known as polypeptide P which is believed to be able to act as an insulin replacement in diabetic patients. 

 

1 guava

1/2 bitter gourd

 

If the guava has seeds, remove the seeds first before juicing.  Juice together 1 guava and 1/2 bitter gourd.
 

Caution:  Too much bitter gourd may cause diarrhea or mild abdominal pain so do not consume more than 2 bitter gourds a day.  Excessive bitter gourd can also stimulate the uterus and therefore pregnant ladies should avoid taking too much to prevent pre-term labour.
